Lugh and Rosemerta(Castle Park,Dalkey)

Lugh and Rosemerta: Commissioned by CastlePark School to celebrate the schools’ exemplary and comprehensive curriculum. The sculpture consists of a large two-sided figurative piece (approx:8ft high). The form inspired by  Celtic Standing Stones, here depicts two Celtic deities. On one side is Lugh, the sun /lightning god, with his spear of lightning/inspiration and his Lamh Fhada (long arm) symbolizing his polymath nature. On the other  Rosemerta the legendary cupbearer. Small pictograms in the narrative style of the Celtic Cross illustrate the wide-ranging curriculum.
